With COVID-19 shutting down the world for multiple years, the use of reviews/ratings spiked heavily, as less people went out, and they were able to rate delivery apps from the comfort of their own home. A greater reliance on online shopping and food delivery caused a major increase in the amount of reviews on many websites and apps, as people didn't need to leave their homes in order to rate something.

In 2025, rating/review culture is very important to many people and many businesses. Many people have said that online reviews are just as, if not more, important than in-person reviews and recommendations, as online reviews are able to show opinions from around the world. Businesses have also begun to rely heavily on online ratings/reviews, because it's able to give people many opinions on their business (good or bad) without having to leave their house. Reviews are also constantly updating.
