On this day, it is recorded that the original 'draft' of the American flag was made official. It consisted of the familiar alternating red and white striped with the blue box of only thirteen stars in it. -
Peace is finally found in Paris
After many long long battles over land in America between the surrounding countries, representatives from all over meet in France to make negotiations. Though it was not the first attempt, it was the first recorded successful attempt. -
The American Army Disbands
After peace is reached, the American army disbands for a short time. A small force remained in New York until the remaining British army forces departed. -
Fun Fact: New York was the Temporary Capital
According to the Library of Congress, in 1784, New York was the temporary Capital of America. This was only in affect until an official Capital city was decided on in 1790.
