    Probabilistic model become widely used in AI especially Hidden Markov Models for speech recognition and sequence prediction;
    Machine learning stars to be preferred
    Early application of AI appear in text analysis, spam filtering;
  • 1995

    Support vector machines, an article was published that said the SVM were an authorized methods of learning which was a basic learning machine. Chatbot ALICE (Artificial Linguistic Internet Computer Entity) was starting to get developed, this chatbot used AIML (Artificial Intelligence Markup Language)
  • 1996

    In this year, an artificial intelligence beat the world champion of that time in a chess match, proving to the world that AI had the capacity to beat humans in complex tasks that had logic and reason behind them. Also in '96 the use of a practical AI was started to get used in comercial apps like voice recognition and fraude detection in the finance world. This gave AI the proof that it was no longer a theory but something applicable.
  • 1997

    IBM Deep Blue, a computer, defeats world chess champion Garry Kasparov
    This even Highlights the power of algorithms and computer power, rather than human like intelligence
    Statistical machine learning and pattern recognition continue to advance.
  • 1998

    One of the bigger advancements of the year was the search engine that google started to use, showing the people that used the website different results based on their previous searches, although this is much more different form the AI that we use now this was big for their time. Other use that the AI had in the time was used for data mining and was finally being used in the marketing and finance for market research and desision making.
  • 1999

    Machine learning is widely used for data ming, fraud detection and pattern recognition:
    AI techniques begin to support search engines, including web page ranking and information retrieval.
    Statistical and probabilistic methods become central to ai research.
  • 2000

    The ALICE chatbot which was invented in 1995 won an award, that award being the Loebner prize, it was won because the system showed the machine-human interaction.
    Finally in the 2000s AI was fully implemented in the business world, specifically in recommendation systems, fraude detection and data filtering.
