  • 1607 AD - First Settlement Jamestown

    Founded by the Virgina Company Jamestown was the first English settlement.
  • 1619 AD - Year of the Firsts

    Once settled with the first year the first legislative assembly occurred. While the first Jamestown people arrive along with their enslaved Africans.
  • 1620 AD - A New Plymouth Colony

    When the Pilgrims arrived, they settled at Plymouth and created their own colony about their beliefs.
  • 1630 AD - Puritan move to Massachusetts

    Large amounts of Puritans immigrants move to Massachusetts. The Puritans helped the community grow by bringing their strong religious values.
  • 1638 AD - Exile of Anne Hutchinson

    Due to her religious beliefs Anne Hutchinson was exiled. While she was banished, she helped find somewhere that allowed more religious freedom called Rhode Island.
  • 1688 AD - The Long-Lasting War

    King William's War created a lasting fight between many different colonies. The War was a fight between the Native Americans, colonists, the British, and the French.
  • 1692 AD - The Salem Witch Trials

    During the Witch trials people were so scared and panicked of the unknown so they made bad and unfair decisions about what should happen to the witches.

  • 1754 AD - War between France and Britain

    After the war between the Britain and France, Britain was in debt, so they created new taxes that the people had to pay.
  • 1765 AD - New Stamp Tax

    The first new tax that was created to pay for the war. The stamp was required for all paper goods.
  • 1770 AD - British soldiers and Colonists confrontation

    A fight broke out between the soldiers and colonists about the new taxes. When a solider fired into the crowd and hurt or killed colonists in the crowd.
  • 1773 AD - Colonists protesting against change

    During the protest colonists decided to throw tea from the British ships into the Boston Harbor.
  • 1775 AD - Start of Revolutionary War

    British troops tried to take over Concord and started a fight with the colonial army. This fight so was big that it started the Revolutionary War.
  • 1776 AD - Officially Declaring Independence

    The 13 colonies had enough so they decided to finally declare independence from Great Britain.

    A new government was created by The United States based on laws and shared power.

  • 1803 AD - United States Doubles in Size

    President Thomas Jefferson authorizes the United States to purchase the Louisiana territory from France the Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the United States.
  • 1812 AD - The 2 Year War

    Trade and naval restrictions caused a war between Britain and America lasted for two and half years.
  • 1830 AD - Railroad Helping Slaves Escape

    A network of secret routes led by Harriet Tubman helped slaves escape to safe houses so they could escape slavery and be free in the North.
  • 1844 AD - The first telegraph message

    Communication for the entire world changed when the first telegraph message was sent. It allows information to spread more quickly and easily than ever before
  • 1860 AD - New President is elected

    Not longer after Abraham Lincoln became president the Confederate States secede from the Union and that is what started the civil war.
  • Nov 6, 1860 AD: A New President Elected

    Abraham Lincoln was elected as president. The southern states did not want him to become president because he was from the northern part of the country. The northern part abolished slavery and the south did not want too yet.
  • Dec. 20, 1860: The first to Secede

    One of the first states that would decide to secede or leave was South Carolina. They decided to make their own country rather than be part of the USA. 7 other states including Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana also decided to leave the USA.
  • Feb. 9, 1861: A new country is formed

    After seceding from the USA, the southern states form their own country called the Confederate States of America. Jefferson Davis is their president.
  • April 12, 1861: The start of a war

    The Civil War began when the Confederate Army decided to fire at Fort Sumter creating a conflict. Fort Sumter was a key fort held by Union troops in South Carolina.
  • 1863 AD - The Largest Battle

    The Battle of Gettysburg was the largest Civil War Battles and turning point of the war, leading to a Union victory.
  • Jan. 1, 1863: All Slaves are Free

    President Lincoln issues an executive order. The order was called Emancipation Proclamation, and it was to free all slaves.
  • July 1, 1863: Winning a major battle

    The Battle of Gettysburg was a major battle that the North won. When the north win this battle, they also start to win the Civil War.
  • 1865 AD - The president was killed

    After the civil war was over and the surrender of Robert E Lee President Abraham Lincoln was killed.
  • April 4, 1865: The end of a war

    The Civil War ends when the Confederate leader General Robert E. Lee, surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant. He surrendered at The Appomattox Court House in Virginia.
