It officially stated said that the 13 American colonies were breaking away from Great Britain and would now be free and independent states. they had had enough of the unfair ruling under Britain and wanted to be free finally the Second Continental Congress decided that independence was the only answer.

men weren't the only ones holding down the fort, while many men were away women filled many roles or even went to battle along side their husbands. not like they were at the front like but they were helping with things like food ,supplies and nursing. for example Molly Pitcher was famous for bringing water to troops and firing a cannon at the Battle of Monmouth. women were also spies for the army and never stopped protesting.
