    Battle of Bunker Hill

    The colonial forces forfeited the hills near Boston, but after a fight and three British assaults. The colonial forces were forced to retreat due to a lack of ammunition, resulting in the victory for the British but in a cost of high casualties. The British forces were led by Major General William Howe and the New England forces were commanded by Colonel William Prescott and General Israel Putnam. The outcome of the battle was the British winning.
