When It Started
It all started in 1950, during the space race. John F. Kennedy said that America could be the first to get a man on the moon, so the Apollo project started in 1961. http://brainpop.com/topic/apollo-project/transcript/ -
The First Test
The Apollo project was way more ambitious than they anticipated, but they were ready to test the rocket after seven years. Sadly, a fire broke out in the main capsule. And the three pilots, Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chafee were killed. http://brainpop.com/topic/apollo-project/transcript/ -
The Launching
NASA strengthened the rockets' safety features, and Apollo 7 was successfully launched with three astronauts inside. http://brainpop.com/topic/apollo-project/transcript/ -
Man On The Moon!
Finally, NASA made a rocket capable of going to the moon. Neil Armstrong was the first man to ever go to the moon, and America won the Space Race! https://www.brainpop.com/topic/apollo-project/transcript/ -
To The Moon... Again
Apollo 13 was scheduled for another moon landing, but two days after it launched, an explosion cut off oxygen and other supplies to the three-person crew. The Astronuts were able to use the lunar module as a living space, while people back on Earth frantically tried to get them home! Thankfully, they were able to fix the rocket and all got home alive and well. https://www.brainpop.com/topic/apollo-project/transcript/ -
Apollo 17
Apollo 17 carried the last two astronauts to the moon. During this mission, they brought back rocks and other samples with helped in understanding space. They also took pictures of Earth! https://www.brainpop.com/topic/apollo-project/transcript/ -
Apollo Ends
The Apollo project officially ends! http://brainpop.com/topic/apollo-project/transcript/ -
When Will We Go Back?
I believe that America will go to the moon again soon to get more samples of rocks and other materials. I believe that we will discover a lot more about the moon because we have much better technology and will be able to process things better
