The plan was to send Cuban exiles, trained by the CIA, to invade Cuba and start a rebellion. But things went wrong—they landed in the wrong spot, the Cuban military was ready, and the local people didn’t support the invasion. The mission failed within three days, and it embarrassed the U.S., especially President John F. Kennedy, who had just taken office. -
