Pantaleo placed Eric Garner in a prohibited chokehold, and numerous videos of the incident have circulated on various social media platforms. Garner's death is important because it created protests around the world, of people demanding justice and accountability for Daniel Pantaleo.

    Michael Brown an unarmed Black teen, was shot by Ferguson officer Darren Wilson, with conflicting accounts of the incident. Wilson claimed Brown attacked him and later charged at him, while Brown’s friend, Dorian Johnson, stated Brown fled, turned with hands raised, and was then shot. Brown was struck six times. I believe this event is important because, Michael Brown was UNARMED. This incident left many people from the black community devastated.

The 'Black Lives Matter Ride' was an event to call an end for state violence against Black people. I think this event is important because of the purpose behind it.

Soon after many protesters were demanding justice for Sandra Bland. I believe this event is important because, it shows just how much people will do for someone in their community who has died.

Yanez was reported not guilty, sticking rage in the black communities of Minnesota. This event was important because it shows how much the black communities care about each other.

    In a game of American Football, the NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem before a game, a gesture for a silent protest that would be picked up around the world, and done again by many. I believe this event is important because it shows how protesting doesn't have to be violent.

    Stephon Clark, a tall black man, was brutally killed by two Californian officers, Terrence Mercadal and Jared Robinet in the back of Stephon's Grandmas house. Hundreds of black men, and some black woman raged to the Sacramento Hall to protest Stephon Clarks death. These protesters repeatedly said: ‘You Murdered a Son'. This event strikes fear of police brutality in the Californian areas.

    Elijah McClain, a 23 year old black male, died after being injected with 500 mg of ketamine a drug, by paramedics after being forcibly detained by police officers. The death of Elijah McClain strikes riots, and peaceful protest. The protesters played the violin to police officers to symbolizing when Elijah used to play. This is why I think the death of Elijah McClain is important.

    Kyle Rittenhouse a 17-year-old boy, and a public figure from Antioch, Illinois, shot, and killed two black men. These actions raged people into protesting the day of his trail. People were saying things like, "The people verdict: GUILTY!" This event is important because Kyle said his actions were in the name of protecting the capital.

    Rutgers University-Camden's Africana Studies program, in collaboration with the Black German Heritage and Research Association (BGHRA), is hosting a four-day conference titled 'ALL BLACK LIVES MATTER: Black Germany and Beyond' from February 17-20, 2022, as part of their year-long event series celebrating Black History Month 2022. This event for me is important because it brings people together while also celebrating the lives the black community lost.

    In the summer of July, 2023, the tenth anniversary of the BLM festival celebrates the death of many black people such as 17 year old Trayvon Martin. Trayvon Martin also sparked the start of this festival. I believe this event is important because, it supports the black communities and, stands against racism.
