    Puppet leader Hamad Bun Thuwaini. Hamoud bin Mohammed replaced Khalid bin Barghash as the Sultan of Zanzibar on August 27, 1896. Following the 38-minute Anglo-Zanzibari War, the British installed Hamoud, their preferred candidate, after Khalid seized power without permission upon the death of the previous Sultan, Hamad bin Thuwaini

    King Mungda singed 1890 treaty with lord lugard, ceding powers over trade, revenue, and justice to the British East Africa Company.

    Already in the British sphere of influence since the Berlin conference (1884) as it offered a route from the coast to Uganda. 9 month war between British and Mahrak Bin Rashid until he fled and Kenya became part of the British East Africa protectorate with some parts of South Sudan and Uganda
