    Battle Of Hong Kong

    Canada and Britain forces launched a raid on Hong Kong in Japan, they were outnumbered and were destined to lose, but they refused to surrender. Canada brought 1975 soldiers to the battle. About 554 Canadian casualties and 500 wounded due to this battle. Source
  • The Dieppe Raid

    The Dieppe Raid
    The Canadians launched an attack on the German occupied French coast. Their goal was to test out amphibious landing tactics on the coast. They underestimated the German force, resulting in high casualties, including 916 Canadian deaths and 3,367 total casualties, 1,946 Canadians were taken prisoner. The loss for the Canadians were a lesson to them for later amphibious landings. Source

    The Italian Campaign

    The Italian campaign was a campaign to liberate Italy from Nazi Germany's rule. The allied force headquarters was responsible for amphibious landings on Italian soil. After Sicily fell in July 1943, the mainland of Italy was invaded, and in May 1945, the surrender of the axis forces in Italy surrendered.

    D-Day
    On June 6th, the allied forces landed on Normandy codenamed Operation Neptune. The operation began with France then to the west coast of Europe. The Allied forces planned a Decoy operation named Operation Bodyguard in 1943 to distract the Germans from the actual date of the landing. The invasion began shortly after midnight, 109 Canadian navy vessels and 10,000 sailors were apart of clearing the sea lanes, destroying sea batteries and supporting landing parties.

    Battle for Caen

    The battle was focused around the British second army and the German Panzergruppe. The goal was to seize the city of Caen. We coordinated with the British at Verrières bridge, coordinating bombing strikes on the bridge. Most of Caen was destroyed due to these bombings.
  • The Rhineland Campaign

    Operation Veritable was led by Bernard Montgomery, Leading the 21st Army group. They started by moving through the Reichwald, while the 3rd Canadian Infantry division were in Boats, clearing the land plain by flooding it. The allies flooded Roer River, and then they took control over the towns of Kleve and Goch, then we met up with the US 9th Army. The Germans held a bridge by the Rhineland, evacuating as many people as they could. Source
