As Senator General P. NYE investigated reports they discovered that arms factories had been making huge profits during the war, this led many to believe that they were part of the reason war had started, this also led more Americans into isolation. -
The Neutrality Act 1
When there was growing Italian and German aggression Congress decided to pass the Neutrality Act which made it illegal for America to sell arms to any other country. -
The Neutrality Act 2
Roosevelt decided to pass the The Neutrality Act of 1936 to extend the previous ban on arms of 1935 and ban loans to countries at war. -
The Neutrality Act 3
When European tensions got even worse they passed The Neutrality Act of 1937 which again continued the ban on selling arms and also requiring all countries to buy nonmilitary supplies from the US on a cash and carry basis. -
Start of WWII
After Germany invaded Poland, France and Britain declared war on Poland. Germany used a warfare called the lightning war which optimized offense speed to gain an advantage. -
Destroyers for Bases
When Britain requested Destroyers from the US to replenish its fleet, Roosevelt used a loop hole from the Neutrality Acts by giving Destroyers in return of getting to use Britain's bases. Some people were alright with the US providing aid to the allies scarcely, others did not approve of it at all. -
The Atlantic Charter
Roosevelt and Churchill decided to commit both of their nations to be democratic, non-aggressive, free trade, economic advancement, and freedom of seas. -
Hemispheric Defense Zone
When Roosevelt couldn't protect British cargo ships he made the Hemispheric Defense Zone which made half of the Western Atlantic neutral. -
Lend-Lease Act
Great Britain had ran out of supplies to fight the war this is when the US passed the Lend-Lease Act which allowed the US to sell, loan, and transfer military and other assets that are crucial to Americas protection. -
Pearl Harbor Attack
This was when Japan had a surprise military strike on the US along the Hawaii islands. This left over 2,400 Americans dead and left significant damage. This led to the US declaring war on Japan bringing the US into WWII.
