My First Day on Earth!
I was born through C-Section on July 30th, 2001. At the time of my birth, technology was not extremely present in my household as money was tight. The main forms of technology in our house during this time were big and blocky televisions, stereos, and my parents' flip phones. (Photo from istockphoto.com). -

Technology Throughout My Life
This timeline spans from the day I was born and ends at today's date. -
My Mom is Online!
Around this time, my mom purchased her first computer. She wasn't yet ready to foot a Wi-Fi bill, so she opted for a dialup connection. She mostly used her computer to engage in conversation through "freebie" and survey sites. I remember being young and begging to use my mom's computer for online games, but she would always say that her computer couldn't handle those types of things. (Photo from istockphoto.com). -
My Mom Gets an Upgrade
Around this time, my mom bought herself a new computer that was faster and more reliable. We also now had Wi-Fi in our home! While I did not have any devices that would have used Wi-Fi at the time, my mom now did let me play games on her computer. I remember unwinding after school by visiting sites such as CoolMathGames and Club Penguin. (Photo from istockphoto.com). -
My First Phone (Kind of)
Using holiday money, I made the decision to buy my first phone in 2011. This was a TracFone that ran off of minutes. I think it cost me about $25 for both the phone and 100 minutes. My parents had warned me before my purchase that buying minutes would be my responsibility. Not surprisingly, a 10 year old did not have the income required to consistently renew these minutes. I think I had that phone a week before I ran out of minutes and it was thrown in a drawer. (Photo from istockphoto.com). -
My First Laptop!
For Christmas, my parents bought me a laptop. It was an ASUS brand and came broken upon its arrival. It couldn't hold any charge' it had to be plugged in for the entirety of its use. If unplugged for a second, it would turn off. Regardless, this laptop opened my up to new worlds of social media and gaming. It was due to this that I created a FaceBook account (against my parents' permission, whoops) and now had a way to communicate with my friends outside of school. (Photo from istockphoto.com). -
My First iPod!
This was a pivotal event. Since I did not have a phone at the time, my only form of communication with my friends was through FaceBook. Now that I had an iPod touch, I was able to text my friends through iMessage, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Even though a Wi-Fi connection was still required to go online (since iPods didn't connect to cell service), I think that this actually connected mr for the first time to my friends and the internet. My First (Real) Phone
I finally got an actual, usable phone during my freshman year of high school. It was an HTC with only 8GB of storage; I could only have about five apps downloaded at a time before I ran out of storage. However, now I was able to communicate with my friends and use the resources of the internet wherever I was (as long as I had cell service)! (Photo from istockphoto.com). -
Desktop Time!
During the COVID19 pandemic, I made a decision to buy a desktop computer. Seven months into this pandemic, I did not expect remote education to be lifted anytime soon. I was having trouble efficiently completing assignments on my cheap, slow laptop. My desktop revolutionized the way I did schoolwork (and played computer games)! (Photo from istockphoto.com). -
My MacBook
In May of 2021, I heard that in-person classes would resume at my university. I didn't want to bring my clunky desktop on the long drive to campus, so I decided to leave it at home. To replace my old and very slow laptop, I decided to purchase a MacBook with the money I had saved from not paying university housing costs the last year and a half. This made schoolwork a lot faster and more convenient, especially when taking it to libraries and cafes for study trips! (Photo from istockphoto.com). -
Today
My timeline ends at today, May 23rd, 2025. I look forward to experiencing the future evolutions of technology! (Photo from istockphoto.com).
