U.S. Initiative to rebuild Western Europe after WW2 by providing economic aid. This program was made to rebuild war economies, prevent communism spread, and promote economic cooperation throughout European Nations. -
NATO Formed
The transatlantic agreement created an alliance of countries and provided security against the threat of the Soviet Union and communist influence. -
Korean War
Conflict between North Korea (supported by the Soviet Union) and South Korea (supported by the US) during the Cold War. The war ended in a stalemate and divided Korea along a demilitarized zone (DMZ). At least 2.5 million people died. -

East German leaders announced that all citizens could now travel freely to West Germany and West Berlin. A lot of people wanted to visit, so guards were forced to open the gates.
