    In 2021, youth used primarily TikTok to mobilize protests against the government. Trending audio was used alongside Harry Potter characters to satirize the government. Protestors dressed in school robes.

    Real footage began to surface on TikTok to spread the news of Russia's invasion into Ukraine. Soldiers posted content on the battlefield which created a sense of urgency to act and sympathy for those involved. Refugees began posting as well, showcasing their experience, their homes and their flee to safer territory.

    With Tiktok, Reddit, and X being the main platforms, Gen Z came together to protest the rapid mobilization of ICE agents in communities with high immigrant populations. Using coded language to bypass algorithms, protestors spoke about a "music festival" in the streets of LA. Footage of protests spread across TikTok.

    After a social media ban began in Nepal, Gen Z took to the streets to protest the digital silencing. Tiktok, Facebook, Whatsapp were all used to spread the message, with #NepoKids uniting the cause.
