This is also where LMS started to become popular. These learning management systems allowed for online course material, discussion posts, and even grades.

During these years we saw the growth of AI software, like DreamBox, to help students based on their performance and skill level. This is when educational games became popular as well. Games like Kahoot help keep students engaged and motivated.

During this time we saw virtual and augmented reality become relevant in education. Students were able to take virtual field trips using Google Expeditions and study different subjects in virtual environments. AI began to assist in tutoring, analytics, and grading online. Microsoft Teams was introduced for projects and communication beyond the classroom.

Remote learning was beginning to gain popularity, but the COVID-19 pandemic really forced it into effect. Zoom, Google Meet, and many others allowed for students and teachers to continue education safely. In today's society it is a very common option for educating even after the pandemic.
