    Delaney Clause of Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act
    Prohibits the approval of any food additive that has been shown to cause cancer in humans or animals, even if used in very small amounts. It's purpose is to ensure that food and beverages do not contain harmful substances that could pose a cancer risk to consumers.
  • Clean Air Act

    Clean Air Act
    Protects public health and the environment by regulating emissions of harmful air pollutants from industries, vehicles, and other sources. It sets air quality standards and gives the EPA the authority to enforce them.
  • Clean Water Act

    Clean Water Act
    U.S. federal law aimed at restoring and maintaining the integrity of the nations waters by preventing point and non-point pollution sources. It establishes regulatory standards for water quality, sets wastewater treatment standards, and provides funding for wastewater infrastructure to ensure clean, safe water for drinking, recreation, and ecosystems.

    A U.S law to protect and recover imperiled species and their habitats. It provides for the conservation of species that are at risk of extinction by listing them as either "endangered" or "threatened" and implementing protective measures.

    U.S. Federal law that authorizes the government to respond to release of hazardous substances. Also holds responsible parties liable for cleanup costs. Also known as the Superfund Act.

    An international treaty aimed at protecting the ozone layer by phasing out ozone-depleting substances like CFC's. It has been highly successful leading to significant reductions in harmful chemicals and contributing to the gradual recovery of the ozone layer.

    Kyoto Protocol
    It sets legally binding targets for developed countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. It aims to combat climate change by requiring these nations to cut emissions by an average of about 5% below 1990 levels during the commitment period.
