Y2K
Y2K is known for being the "Year 2000 problem". It was thought that the technology world as we knew it was going to shut down. It stemmed from concern when the year changed to 2000, that computers would misinterpret "00" as "1900" and lead to many system failures. People acted like an apocalypse was going to take place and stored up on food and water for months. New Year's was a very stress time. -
AOL on Home Computer
AOL and waiting for the dial up was a huge part of my middle school experience. My best friend and I would log in at each other's house to talk to our friends for hours. It was way of communicating with friends outside of school. It was a huge part of the social scene at the time. -
First iphone
I received my first iPhone in 2011 after I graduated college. I had connection to internet at my finger tips and also started exploring social apps like Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. Instagram changed the way my friends saw being social. -
Student computers
I received my first teaching job in 2014 and that was the same year that students were given computers on a 1 to 1 basis in my first grade classroom. We used computers to test, take AR reading quizzes, listen to stories, and do fun math and reading games during center time.
