10,000 diggers met to demand the release of the 3 diggers, the abolition of the licence and the vote for all males

A larger meeting was held where the diggers decided to publicly burn their mining licences. The next day, as a response to the meeting, the Gold Commissioner ordered a licence hunt.
-
Another mass burning of licences took place at Bakery Hill. They then went to the Eureka diggings where they constructed the stokade.

Authorities launched an attack on the stokade in the morning. The diggers were outnumbered and the battle was over in 20 minutes. 22 diggers and 5 troops were killed.
