    Fall of France to Nazi Forces

    Eight months later, Germany attacked France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. This attack was too strong, and the Allied forces had to surrender.

    Rescue at Dunkirk

    Over 300,000 British and French troops were captured by the German army. In a Large evacuation operation, they were rescued from the beaches of Dunkirk.

    Germany tried to bomb large cities in Britain, to Break morale and war production. There was a miscalculation and they actually killed 43,000 civilians in the process.

    The Allied forces invaded Sicily, in hopes of bringing Italy out of the war, and keep the Germans out. The plan worked but both sides lost about 150,000 people.

    An Unsuccessful Allied operation that took place in the German-occupied Netherlands. They tried to secure key bridges in the area, but they couldn't secure the last one.

    Hitler's first major attack on the western front, tried to split the Allied forces. They Allies fought back and Hitler lost more troops, pushing them back a bit.
  • Victory in Europe Day

    After Hitler's suicide, And the surrender of Berlin, Germany surrendered. This makes May 8th the final day of war.
