Founding of the Company
Louis Chevrolet and William Durant co-founded the Chevrolet company in Detroit, MI. This marked the beginning of Chevrolet as a whole and opened many doors to a bright future for the automobile industry. This event marks the beginning of a great branding, giving them the opportunity to strive for success. First Chevy with the "bowtie"
This year marked the first time anybody saw the "bowtie" logo that everyone knows and loves. The start of this logo is what everyone sees nowadays, whether it's white, black, or any color. It is on every vehicle made by Chevrolet, besides a couple of exceptions with alternate logos. First truck/Joining with GM
This was the first year Chevy began producing trucks, they used the body of one of their car models. With the addition of a truck bed for transport, it was the birth of a new vehicle. Typically used for transportation and convenience, the trucks would further become very useful for almost any industry and would be a great moneymaker. Chevy Overtakes Ford in Sales
Around this time, Chevy had finally caught up and surpassed Ford in sales. This marks the first time for the company, with them selling almost 1 million vehicles. This marks a groundbreaking opportunity for the company, giving it the "bragging right". Chevrolet then goes all in to continue their great production and goes all in. Production ceases for civilian vehicles
Around this time was the start of World War II, meaning many automobile producer switched their efforts to the military to produce transportation. Most were making just trucks, others made planes and even tanks. Though this made the company take a turn, it still helped produce many things for the military to show its support for the troops. First Regular Production fiberglass body
The first time the company mass-produced a fiberglass body was on the Corvette, a very sleek yet powerful car. With fiberglass came weight reduction, allowing for high speeds and aerodynamics. The beginning of fiberglass was great for the company because it would later allow them to create parts that would be lighter for their vehicles, allowing for better speeds and better opportunities for the company later on. Camaro Debut
This was the debut of Chevrolet's most infamous muscle car. Known for its great power and sleek looks, it was a great playing card to the opposing Mustang developed by Ford. This was a groundbreaking opportunity for Chevy; they had the chance to make the "best," and they did a great job doing it. Full-Size Pickups
Although the company had trucks before this year, adding the extended cab allowed for larger trucks. Not only could they store more in the back seats, but they would also be able to transport people. For the company, this would allow for greater sales for those who transport supplies or other various trades. Opening up the limit of what they would be able to do with their vehicles. Fastest Car!
This year marks the year that Chevy developed one of the fastest cars in the world, the 2009 Corvette ZR1, with its 689 horsepower engine. This set new grounds for the company, now holding the title for the fastest production vehicle made. They could further use this to promote their company in big time events. Electric Truck in brand
This year showed that anything is possible, although they had electric vehicles prior. They began producing electric trucks, same power and same truck, just with an innovation. Electric vehicles have become more noticed nowadays. Although its a truck, it still has the same, if not better, towing capabilities.
