  • Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)

    Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)

    To help the country out of the Great Depression, the relief program CCC was created during the First New Deal on March 31st 1933, giving single men between 18 and 25 work to improve America's public sites.
  • Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA)

    Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA)

    The Agricultural Adjustment Act was a recovery act under the First New Deal, established on May 12th 1933. The AAA wanted to help farmers recover from conditions during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. One way they did this was by giving subsidies to farmers in return of the farmers limiting specific crop growth to prevent overproduction.
  • National Recovery Administration (NRA)

    National Recovery Administration (NRA)

    The National Recovery Administration was under the First New Deal, and established on June 16th 1933, focused on eliminating unfair trade practices, reducing unemployment, and establishing minimum wages and maximum hours by allowing the president to institute these industry-wide codes.
  • Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)

    Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)

    The FDIC was a reform program during the First New Deal. On June 16th, 1933, the FDIC was established because of the many banks that went out of business as a result of the Great Depression, also causing many bank savings accounts to be lost. Some ways it does this is by insuring deposits and examining and supervising financial institutions for consumer protection.
  • Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

    Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

    The SEC was a commission of reform established under the First New Deal on June 6th 1934. The commission aimed to restore confidence in investors by abolishing misleading sales practices and/or stock market manipulation. It also prevented doing things such as buying stocks without having enough money to do so.
  • Works Progress Association (WPA)

    Works Progress Association (WPA)

    The WPA was a relief effort created on May 6th, 1935 during the Second New Deal with the goal of hiring men to work on public service projects, giving an opportunity to those who are out of a job and potentially do not have the education required for other occupations.
  • Federal Writer's Project (FWP)

    Federal Writer's Project (FWP)

    The Federal Writer's Project was a relief movement established on July 27th, 1935 under the Second New Deal that gave work to writers who were out of a source of income during the Great Depression by assigning writing projects such as the American guide series -- pamphlets that contained descriptions of each city within every state of the US.
  • Social Security Act (SSA)

    Social Security Act (SSA)

    The SSA was a reform act passed on August 14th 1935. It created a permanent pension system through employer contributions, allowing people who may be disabled or out of work to get money.
  • Federal Art Project (FAP)

    Federal Art Project (FAP)

    The Federal Art Project was a relief project under the Second New Deal that began on August 29th, 1935. The goal of the project was to provide income for Artists during the Great Depression by creating public art projects, providing education for art-related studies, and running community art centers.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

    Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

    The FLSA was a reform act during the Second New Deal passed on June 25th, 1938. The FLSA set labor standards such as setting a minimum wage and capping the work hours at 44 a week. The FLSA also regulated child labor, making it very impactful to this very day.
