End of French and Indian War
The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War. The Colonists did not like this because now they faced restrictions. -
The Sugar Act
The Sugar act taxed items such as, sugar and molasses and foreign goods. the colonists did not like the idea of them paying for the war which led to resistance against England. -
Stamp Act
This Act imposed a tax on printed materials for the colonists. This led the colonists to start the campaign of "taxation without representation". -
The Declaratory Act
This Act made by the British Parliament allowed them to make laws for the colonies. The Colonists did not like this because they didn't want to be controlled by England, this Act was in spite of the repeal of the stamp act. -
The Townshend Act
This was an Act that taxed goods such as, glass, lead, paper, and paint etc..This lead to the Colonists boycotting certain goods to try to get England to cut back on the taxes. -
The Tea Act
This Act was passed to help the East India Company. The colonists found this to objectionable. This Act led to the Boston tea party where the colonists threw the tea into the Boston harbor as a protest to England. -
Start of The Revolutionary War
The start of the happened because the colonists wanted to push back from England. The Colonists wanted no taxes and England was not willing to back down. The colonists originally did not want this to happen but as the British Acts became more extreme, war became necessary.
