The narrator is reading but becomes interrupted by a knock at the door. -
They were startled at how quickly it could reply. -
He went back inside with his heart racing then he heard another tapping at the window and when he gained confidence he was gonna go check. -
It was a cold dark December and the fire was burning out and its light made ghostly shapes on the floor. -
He opened the window and a huge black Raven came through to the window and flew across the room and perched on a statue. -
The curtains were moving in the wind and he had a strange feeling he has never had before and to calm himself he says there's just someone knocking on the door. -
His heart grew a bit braver so he was saying out loud sir or madam please forgive me when he heard knocking so he opened the door and it was just darkness. -
He stood there in the darkness of full of nervous and wild thoughts. -
The Raven sat there quietly quietly as if nothing else happened and he said the raven would leave him like his friends and the bird said "Nevermore". -
But the ravens presence made them feel strangely calm. -
He sat there for a long time thinking deeply. -
He smelled perfume as if angles had entered the room. -
A bird smiled and stood proud and the Raven said "Nevermore". -
He was amazed the bird could talk and suprised them deeply. -
He was asking if it was really a raven or a demon. -
He cried asking for the truth asking about the raven. -
He got mad and shouted leave and go back to the storm. -
The raven never left and it still sits on the statue above his door.
