Nat Turner's Rebellion
The event was a huge slavery revolt in Virginia led by Nat Turner. He and his crew killed 60 white people. It didn't end well. Texas Annexation
Texas declared independence from Mexico in 1836, was annexed by the United States in 1845. This was a debatable move, as Texas was a slave state, and its annexation would upset the balance between free and slave states in the Union. The annexation of Texas led to the Mexican- American War which made the slavery issue even worse because everyone was arguing about whether the new territories should be free or slave -
Compromise of 1850

It was brought up by U.S Senator Henry Clay, He was an abolitionist. Northerners who didn't support slavery were angry by the act seeing it as a violation of their moral and personal values. -

Kansas-Nebraska Act

The act divided the land west of Missouri into two territories and allowed settlers to decide if slavery would be legal there. Dred Scott Decision
The Dred Scott decision was a legal case with the U.S Supreme Court that said the slave Dred Scott w,ho was staying in a free state, was not entitled to his freedom. The Supreme Court said American Americans were not going by the Missouri Compromise as they said it was unconstitutional. This caused many problems as the Missouri Compromise was supposed to help the slaves, that slavery was prohibited in. This pushed the country closer to war. -
John Brown's Raid on Harpers Ferry

There was 22 people that was defeated by a group of U.S Marines. Since the raid was unsuccessful it lead to the North and South to fight. The raid ended with the Government winning. -

Also it was a political campaign in the southern to establish a separate confederacy. The Secession created a formal break between the Union and the new formed confederate States of America. Abraham chose to go to war against the states to preserve the Union. -
