When the men of Copperas Cove went to war, there small town was voted to join the Union although Texas had seceeded to join the Confederate army. -

Jesse Clements established an elemaentary school call Clemants Parson elementary school. It still operates and gives young students education. -

in 1881, Mr. Clements and his wife deeded 676 acres of land all the way to the gulf. -
Stagecoach stopped operating
in 1882, the Marston Ogletree stagecoach stopped operating. The building still stands in the Ogletree park./ -
Cattle loaded onto railroads
By 1882, cattle could be loaded onto a railroad and transported more easily. -
First school building.
In 1884, the first school buildingw as created and was called the Avenue E school. This building still stands and is still in current use. -
Mt. Hiram MAsonic Lodge
In 1884, Mt. Hiram MAsonic Lodge was founded and it is the oldest organization.
