Council for Exceptional Children is a professional association that was established on April 4 1922, dedicated to enhancing the education and welfare of children with special needs and disabilities. It offers parents, teachers and other professionals who work with students with disabilities advocacy professional development and resources. Brown v Board of Education
On May 17, 1954 , the supreme court ruled that racial segregation in public schools were unconstitutional. The supreme court believed that black children should have equal rights to educational opportunities , they emphasized how separate schools for white and African American children were not equal and hurt the education of black students, this case helped to end legal segregation in schools.

The Association for children with learning disabilities is a non-profit organization that was established in 1963. ESEA
In 1965, Elementary and Secondary Education Act, was created to enhance the education for students that come from low income families. Handicapped Children's Early Education Assistance Act
The Handicapped Children’s Early Education Assistance Act was passed in 1968 , in order to provide government support in education programs for children with disabilities. The aim of the act was to ensure that students with disabilities had access to high quality education to support their learning and development. This was later revised as the Education of handicapped Act, 1970. -
Education of All Handicapped Children Act
The Education of All Handicapped Children Act was passed on May 16th 975 , this act is regarded as a landmark ale on the U.S. education. It required that all students with disabilities, no matter the severity of their disability, have access to free , suitable education from public schools. This act was used to make sure that students with disabilities were taught in the least restricted environment possible, in a general classroom among other non-disabled students. -
IDEA
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is a U.S law that was first passed in 1975 , but has been updated several times since. It aims to ensure that children with disabilities have the right to receive a free, adequate public education in the least restrictive environment. IDEA,requires schools to create an IEP for each qualified student and offer special education services that are suited for their requirements.

ADA
Americans with Disabilities Act, was passed in 1990 to ensure that people with disabilities are protected from discrimination in numerous aspects.This includes public services, jobs and education. By demanding companies , educational facilities and government organizations to provide accessible spaces and appropriate modifications so that people with disabilities have equal opportunities to engage in society. -
No Child Left Behind
In 2002, the US passed the no child left behind act to improve education for all students, especially those that come from a disadvantaged background. This act required schools to conduct regular testing in reading and math to see how well the students were progressing. The goal of this act is to make sure that every child is learning and has a good education.

Every Student Succeeds Act
On December 10th 2015, the Every Student Succeeds Act replaced the No Child Left Behind Act. ESSA was created to give the schools more flexibility in assessing and improving students success , it lessened the dependence on standardized testing and gave the states more control on how to support the school that were struggling and in need. EESA, aimed to guarantee that every student, no matter their background, received high quality education.
