Location: Imperial China was located in East Asia.
Fact: In order for women to ever be loved/married, have privilege, and have a semi-decent life was for them to bind their feet at young ages. This was one sign of the decrease in women's status. They didn't have jobs, and they couldn't really do anything due to the excruciating pain in their feet. They were often seen as inferior in Confucianism. -

Maya
Location: Maya was located in the Yucatan Peninsula and areas in southeastern Mexico and other regions near.
Fact: In the social pyramid, the top was Halach Uinic, who chose who got to fight and when. Next is Nobles, then Priests who decided the time for battle and Nobles led in costumes. Then were Merchants and Artisans. Merchants did trade; Artisans made products in tribute to gods. Then peasants next who farmed, built, and were soldiers and paid taxes. Slaves were last and did manual labor. -

Byzantine Empire
Location: The Byzantine Empire was located in Southeastern and Southern Europe, along with Western Asia.
Fact: During the Great Schism between both the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church, their ways of life, teachings, and beliefs caused disagreements and arguments between the two, which then turned into a series of events, causing permanent separation between both churches. -

Gupta Empire
Location: The Gupta Empire was located in India.
Fact: During the Golden Age of Gupta, there were many new trade routes, which means more wealth and social interactions due to more amounts of land being taken over. -

Ghana
Location: Ghana was located in Southeastern Mauritania and central Mali.
Fact: During the reign of the Empire, the most valuable items for the trans-Saharan trade were salt and gold. But they faced many challenges with trade and interactions due to many people being conquered which led to a decline to Ghana, being turned into the Mali Empire. -

The Muslim Empire
Location: The Muslim Empire is located in regions of North Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Europe.
Fact: The Abbasid Caliphate noticed the growth and development of certain cities such as Baghdad, which became places like centers of trade, learning, and cultural exchange. Trade networks of all cultures and religions, connected different regions and facilitated the spread of knowledge and goods. -
Period: 1185 to 1333
Japan
Location: Japan was located in Kamakura.
Fact: In the 12th century both men and women samurai had equal power. They both could fight in battle but the women typically did work at home. Once the husband died, she would get all of his properties and carry on his duties. In the 17th century on the other hand, samurai women had little to no privilege and had to obey everything the men would say whether it be family or their spouse. The women were less powerful than a peasant if not married. -

Mali
Location: Mali was located mainly in the Sahel region of West Africa, and some zones between the Sahara Desert and savannas.
Fact: The Pilgrimage to Mecca allowed Mansa Musa to interact with multiple scholars and intellectuals which then led to a variety of new ideas, knowledge, and architectural styles to Mali. -

Aztec
Location: The Aztec Empire was located in Central and Southern Mexico.
Fact: In Tenochtitlan, they built their empire off tribute. Tax collectors accepted many usual materials such as food, cloth, animal skins etc, This was to support their population. -

Holy Roman Empire
Location: The Holy Roman Empire was located in Central and Western Europe.
Fact: The Bubonic plague was spread through social interactions, wiping out a majority of the population in Europe. Most people weren't very clean back then, so fleas were common but little did they know, the fleas were the ones carrying the virus from the bacteria in rat's blood. In addition, this disease led to a decline in feudalism, giving workers and commoners more power which resulted in peasant revolts. -

Inca
Location: The Inca Empire was located in the Cusco region.
Fact: Since there were over 25,000 miles worth of roads throughout the Empire, they used a relay system to communicate and send message long distance. How they relayed message was by tying knots in specific spots of rope to create a message and they pass it down person by person until they hit the place they are trying to communicate to. The strings with knots were called Quipus. -

Songhai
Location: The Songhai Empire was located in Central Mali, along the Niger River.
Fact: A Songhai leader named Sunni Ali, took power by building an army of his people and defeated Mali. After Sunni Ali took over, there were many houses built in the cities and provided for the poor, along with an increase in trade due to a growth in population. He also came back with more knowledge for his kingdom.
