    Maya Classic Period

    Location: Central America
    Fact: The religion of the Maya was an indigenous religion. It is a polytheistic religion, meaning they have several gods. These gods were associated with natural phenomenons, and contained animal-human-like attributes. These gods were named K'uh.
  • Period: 320 to 550

    Gupta Empire

    Location: India
    Fact: The main religions of the Gupta Empire were Hinduism and Buddhism. Hinduism is a polytheistic religion, meaning they have many gods. In Buddhism however, the Buddha is the god.

    Byzantine Empire

    Location: Europe, along the Mediterranean
    Fact: The Religion of the Byzantine Empire was Christianity. However, unlike the Holy Roman Empire, the branch of Christianity was Eastern Orthodox. God is the God of this religion, and they also believe in Jesus Christ.

    Imperial China

    Location: China
    Fact: The main religions of Imperial China were Daoism and Confucianism. These religions don't follow any gods, but focus more on philosophy and self-improvement.

    Muslim Empire

    Location: Along the bottom of the Mediterranean, all of Arabia and more in the middle east.
    Fact: The religion of the Muslim Empire was Islam. Allah was the God of this religion and is the same God in Christianity.

    Japan

    Location: Japan
    Fact: Japan had two Religions that intertwined. These two Religions are Buddhism and Shintoism. The traditional religion of Japan was Shintoism, which did not have an actual god, but was more of an appreciation of nature. Buddhism, on the other hand, had the Buddha as their god.

    Holy Roman Empire

    Location: Mid Europe
    Fact: The Religion of the Holy Roman Empire was Christianity. The specific branch was Catholicism. God is the God of Christianity, but what sets them apart is belief in The Son of God, Jesus Christ.

    Ghana

    Location: West Africa
    Fact: The Religion of Ghana was their traditional and indigenous beliefs. Islam had tried to take over, but they did not convert. They had several traditional gods.

    Mali

    Location: West Africa
    Fact: The religion of Mali was half traditional and half Islam. The people accepted Allah as their God, however they were not fully devoted.

    Aztec

    Location: Mexico
    Fact:The religion of the Aztec, much like the Maya and the Inca, was a polytheistic indigenous religion. they had many gods based on natural phenomenons.

    Inca

    Location: South America
    Fact: The religion of the Inca was an Indigenous religion. This polytheistic religion has many gods, however the main god of this religion was the sun god.

    Location: West Africa
    Fact: The main religion of Songhai was Islam. They accepted Allah as their God.
