James Olsen's Reading Life

  • Kindergarten

    Kindergarten

I remember building words with my teacher and reading lots of Dr. Sues books.
  • 1st Grade

    1st Grade

I remember reading the books that would have the reading level in the top left corner. Specifically, there was a book about monster trucks that I got for my birthday.
  • Book fair's

    Book fair's

Way back when I was in elementary, I remember the book fairs being the best thing to look forward to. Buying one book just so I could buy the erasers.
  • 7th Grade

    7th Grade

I remember reading a long walk to water and it being the first serious book I had ever read for school. I also remember writing my first essay for that book and it being terrible.
  • I.C.E.E.

    I.C.E.E.

I remember in 7th grade being taught about the I.c.e.e. format to help us all with our paragraphs.
  • All Quiet On the Western Front

All Quiet On the Western Front

I remember reading this book as the first one in 8th grade. This was my introduction to high school English classes, and my introduction to high school all together. I remember this book being boring, however well written, despite the story being interesting. ( I only know this because we watched the movie in class, otherwise I would think the story is boring).
  • The Scarlet Letter

    The Scarlet Letter

This book was terrible. Not only was it my summer assignment for going into my sophomore year, but the writing of the book did not resonate with me in the slightest. I could barely understand what the author was saying, or trying to say with the old fashion writing.
  • Summer reading - The American Game

Summer reading - The American Game

The American Game might be the best book I have read in a long time. While it is the longest book I have ever even attempted to read, at over 430 pages, my interest was peaked throughout the whole book. It focuses on Lacrosse, my favorite sport and the history behind it.
