Born April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy, he was apprenticed to Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence, then moved to Milan around 1482 to work for Ludovico Sforza, where he painted The Last Supper (c. 1495–1498) and drew the Vitruvian Man (c. 1492). After working in Florence again and other Italian cities, he spent his final years in France, from 1516 to his death on May 2, 1519.
