Shame and doubt is when a child may attempt to be independent but they are discouraged, this may lead to feelings of shame and the child may start to doubt themselves. -
Industry vs Inferiority
Madelyn participates in a science fair to gain a sense of success.
Industry is shown when a child prepares successfully for a science fair and receives positive feedback, they will develop a sense of pride.
Inferiority is shown when a child does not successfully prepare and receives negative feedback resulting in inferiority. -
Intimacy vs Isolation
Madelyn gets a life partner and moves in with them.
Intimacy is shown by successfully developing a close and meaningful bond with others.
Isolation is shown when individuals struggle to form a meaningful bond with others.
