Shootout at stringybark creek
Stringybark Historical Reserve is where the infamous shoot out between police and the Kelly Gang took place on 26 October, 1878. The Gang surprised the police at their camp and, in the ensuing gun battle, three policeman were killed. A police memorial has been erected here also a historical walk. ( Archerton N.D) -
Begging of the boxer Rebellion
Boxer Rebellion, officially supported peasant uprising of 1900 that attempted to drive all foreigners from China. “Boxers” was a name that foreigners gave to a Chinese secret society known as the Yih Equan (“Righteous and Harmonious Fists”). ( Britannica 2025) -
The battle of Beersheba
The Battle of Beersheba is one of the most notable mounted charges by the Australian Light Horse Regiments. On 31 October 1917, the 4th and 12th Australian Light Horse Regiment launched a dramatic charge, with bayonets “swords” in hands, to defeat Turkish troops near the town of Beersheba.
