The industrial revolution was a time of massive progress in technology. People were trying to find a way to do things without human labour. The revolution was the cause for improvements in agriculture and medical science. It was also the reason for the rising middle class. The revolution spiked a massive increase in population with around 10 million people born in Britain alone during this time. -
First British settlement in adventure bay
Adventure bay which is located on Bruny Island was named by Captain Tobias Furneaux however there were already indigenous people living there. The British people extremely disrupted the lives on the indigenous, as they brought infectious deceases and displaced a lot of the people. The settlement started in 1800 and was settled by 1804. The bay home to many different industries like whaling and timber. -
The end of the Napoleonic wars
The Napoleonic wars were fought between the French empire and European powers. They spanned from 1799-1815 with the objective was originally to maintain French safety but then became an effort to affirm supremacy over the European powers. The wars came to an end with the battle of waterloo where the French were defeated by the seventh coalition. -
end of the age of revolution
The age of revolution spanned from the 1800s to 1848. During this time a number of uprisings formed. This was dissatisfaction with the monarchies, and they demanded for a political reformation. The revolts began in France and quickly spread to countries like Italy and Germany. the revolts were suppressed leading to a time of repression and disillusionment. Even though the revolution ended it left lasting effects on the modern day. -
Shootout at stringybark creek.
The events at stringybark creek are what made ned Kelly an outlaw. The Kelly gang were hiding in the bush at stringybark when they came across four police officers their plan was only to disarm the officers, but during the events 3 out of 4 ended up dead. The officers were Sergeant Kennedy, Constable Thomas Lonigan, and Constable Michael Scanlan and Constable Thomas McIntyre. It was Mcintyre who made it out alive. This turned the Kelly gang into outlaws, and they were wanted for murder. -
beginning of the boxer rebellion
The boxer rebellion was led by a secret society in north China. They were given the boxer's name as they were all trained in multiple martial arts. This was the beginning of violence in China. The idea of the rebellion was to expel foreign influence, end the spread of Christianity, address the economic exploitation, and stand together to resist for their national pride. -
the battle of Beersheba
This battle was a significant event as it was one of the last successful cavalry charges. Beersheba was attacked because of their prime location and resources. Beersheba led to the capture of Palestine and Jerusalem which lead to the fall of western powers. It was fought by the Australian light horse brigade; they used many techniques including diversion speed and surprise. This proved the Australian men to the British allies, and they were then seen as a crucial part of the war.
