    Milton Hershey was born on September 13th, 1857, in Derry township, PA. He was the only surviving child of Veronica Snavely and Henry Hershey.

    Teen years.
    By 1867, Hershey's dad was already out of the picture. Without a dad to instill an appreciation for hard work, His mom had to step up and teach him. At the age of 14, he began an apprenticeship with a master confectioner.
