AOL(America Online) first started as Quantum Computer Services in 1985. In the 1990s, AOL's dial-up service became the internet. It combined e-mail, chat rooms, news, weather, and games, which allowed the Internet to be wider at the time. Their "You've got mail" alert helped to make electronic messaging a main form of communication.
In the early 2000s, AOL had more than 30 million subscribers around the world. It was discontinued in 2017. -
Myspace was a website and social media platform that was popular from 2005 to 2008. It was big for giving music artists access to a larger platform to promote their work. It was free and an ad-supported serviced that allowed the users to create profiles that featured photos, showed their interests, and linked to others profiles. It was used to keep in touch with friends, to meet new people, or to connect with romantic partners.
Myspace lost around a million visitors in 2008 and 2010. -
Facebook was created in 2004. It is a social media platform that was founded by Mark Zuckerberg, and others that were all college students.
