I have a random assortment of photos from my grade school years (here's one from kindergarten!). -
We played old arcade-style typing games to better learn the keyboard and improve our typing skills. We focused on accuracy and speed! -
We had computer lab time for our typing classes, for research for projects, and for standardized online testing and other kinds of assessments. -
In the classroom, our teachers interacted with Smartbaords to deliver lessons, PowerPoints, ask students to share work for math problems, etc. -
When reading books (such as Holes), the teacher reinforced our understanding of themes and reading comprehension with its film. Holes was the most memorable! The visuals and character personalities really brought our education to life. -
My math teacher taught our class in the library, so she used a transparency projector to project the work onto one of the high slanted ceilings. She used a thin whiteboard pen to write her work, went through a few pages of the transparency paper, and then erased them in between parts of the lesson. -
For an enrichment program, I participated in an online Oregon Trail game with others to work on my problem solving skills and to learn more about perspective taking. I lived in Oregon at that time, so it also felt a little more close to home! -
We used the Macs in the Photography Classroom to edit our photos (here's some from one of my years!). -
We used Google docs and drive to share notes, write essays, receive feedback from partners teachers, etc.
