When I would go stay with my grandparents I would watch movies on VHS tapes. They showed me how to rewind them myself in this little VHS rewinder that was shaped like a car and made 'vroom' sounds as it rewound the tapes.

I remember using these old-school overhead projectors with the clear sheets in the classroom throughout elementary school, but we definitely had at least one digital projector that was on top of the computer cart to show us how to do different tasks on the computer. We also used it to have the occasional movie night after school.

This was when I had computer class with Mr. Grube at Stratford School. He taught us about simple coding, correct typing, and proper internet use and safety. The chunky Lenovo ThinkPad laptops were the most high-tech thing we had at school but there was only one laptop cart that was shared amongst all the grades.

My dad built me this computer for my 6th birthday. This was my first desktop computer, and he downloaded some kid friendly music mixing and art software for me to use. I also used this computer to practice typing and was introduced to early versions of Adobe suite. I was eventually given my dad's hand-me-down a few years later which although older was more powerful.

I remember using the program Scratch to make simple games and videos with coding techniques in class during elementary school. I don't remember what we used after, but I remember coding a functional digital calculator app.

My parents decided it was time for me to have a cell phone (a blue Samsung with the slide out keyboard) since I would be walking home from school. We only paid for 100 text messages a month and I would need to tell my friends not to text me. My first smartphone was a Motorola Droid Razr. (I actually wanted an iPhone, but I digress.) I hated this phone; it had so many software issues. My parents eventually replaced it with Samsung Galaxy S6. But I finally have my iPhone, my 24th birthday present.

My dad upgraded me to a laptop for my birthday. I had been wanting to use it at school for assignments and my guitar workshops. I remember carrying this massive thing in my backpack. (literally back breaking) I have since upgraded to a Lenovo Yoga i7 which I love.

My guitar teacher, Mr. Hall, taught me how to use guitar pro to create sheet music and audio files to practice songs with. I was his TA this year and that was my job.

Since starting college, I was used tech more in my classes than I ever had previously. I have been introduced to a plethora of interactive online tools in addition to submitting assignments digitally through canvas.
