    Initiative vs. Guilt (Early Childhood)
When I was in pre-school, I would show initiative when doing an arts and craft project. I liked to make sure that I cut and glued everything together all by myself. I would feel guilty if I was told I glued something in the wrong place or made a mistake that could ruin the art piece. In this stage the young child wants to exert control over what they are doing. They prefer to plan activities in any way; encouragement helps this initiative. Discouragement fosters guilt within the child.

    Identity vs. Identity Confusion
I am currently in this stage being a recent high school graduate finding my place in life and really listening to myself. Trying to distance myself from my families' ideologies is difficult which has caused a little confusion in my identity. This is the stage in a person's life, where they discover themselves and what truly is best for them. You figure out what you believe in and what you want to do. When conflict is unresolved or you are lost that can lead to identity confusion.
