Skype takes the world by storm. Skype was a popular video chatting website that allowed individuals to make free, long-distance calls. I remember my older sister Skyping her friends to do homework occasionally. Or, in first grade, my teacher would Skype one of her close friends from the classroom and we would practice sign language with her.

Netflix, a popular streaming network, used to mail rental DVDs to its customers. However, in 2007, Netflix started to allow online streaming via the Internet at home. I was only around 4 when this was introduced, but I could not imagine life today without Netflix. I use Netflix almost daily to watch my entertainment and no longer have cable because of it. During COVID-19, an online platform called Zoom became essential to work, school, and "face-to-face" conversations. I remember virtually going to high school during 2020-2021 through Zoom or even just video chatting with my friends to keep social interactions while in lockdown. Image from support.zoom.com -
ChatGPT, an online AI search engine, hits the scene. I will not lie and say I have never used ChatGPT, but I try to avoid it if at all possible. ChatGPT has started being used incorrectly by students in recents years to do school work for them, rather than assisting them. ChatGPT is a tool, not a learning replacement. It can truly be awesome when used correctly, but often is not used for its intended purpose. Image from ChatGPT
