Socialization

  • Daycare

When I was around 8 months old I went to daycare. I stayed there everyday with my friends, cousins, and siblings. This influenced me because I learned how to share with others and play nicely. The agent of socialization was peer groups.
  • Beach House

When I was 4 years old, my parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle bought a beach house together. We shared this house and went there year round. This influenced me because it taught me to be grateful for the house. Not everyone has a summer house they can go to. I also learned that you have to clean and care for a house if you want it to stay nice. The agent of socialization was family.
  • Friends

When I was in 3rd grade I saw my sister get bullied. I watched her be treated badly and left out by her group of friends. This influenced me because I saw how she felt when she was treated that way, and I never wanted to make other people feel that way. The agent of socialization was family.
  • Middle School

When I was in 6th grade I went to middle school for the first time. I was in a new building with all new teachers, and a new schedule. This influenced me because I had to learn how to manage my time to have fun while getting my work done and getting to class on time. The agent of socialization was school.
  • Volleyball Team

When I was in 9th grade, I didn’t make the volleyball team. I worked all summer and tried out but didn’t make the team. This influenced me because I learned that you don’t always get what you want. I also learned that everything happens for a reason. If I made the team I would never be as involved in theater as I am. The agent of socialization was school.
