Socialization Timeline James D

  • Moving to a new house.

When I was 7 years old, my family and me moved into a new home. It was my first experience that forced me to have to adapt to entirely new circumstances. The influence of my parents was the agent of socialization.
  • The death of my Great Grandmother

When I was 13, I learned that my Great Grandmother had passed away of natural causes. It was my first time dealing with grief and someone truly being gone. The agent of socialization was death.
  • Enlisting in music lessons.

When I was 11, I started taking piano lessons. It was my first time falling in love with a form of art. This influenced me because it taught me how to inform my personality with new experiences. I believe the agent of socialization was education.
  • First experiences in high school.

I was 14 when I first stepped foot into high school. It was my first time being independent, forcing me to adapt to new situations even if they were outside of my comfort zone. The agent of socialization was school.
  • Joining the video production pathway.

When I was 15, I started taking my first video production course. It influenced me by showing me there were more arts to learn about separate from just music. It once again pushed me outside of my comfort zone in a way that ended up being extremely rewarding. The agent of socialization was education.
