Every time I would visit my great grandmother, which was almost everyday, she would read me a new or different book she thought I would like. My favorite book she got me and read, was always the Sesame Street Puppet Elmo Clap Your Hands Book. I loved learning how to read, especially with the puppet, and singing along with the book.

Between first and fourth grade, I always tested three to four grade levels above the proficient score for the lexile test. I was always picking books from a different section of the library than my peers and most of the books had content in it that I did not quite understand at such a young age.

One of my favorite book series I ever read was The Magical Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris. I enjoyed the series so much that I fully reread the book about 5 times! I also ended up going to a meet and greet for the book to learn more about his experience writing the book and the process.

Between 2016 to 2019 I loved writing songs. Although I still do like to write lyrics from time to time I do not do it as often. I would write pages and pages of lyrics for my "songs" that I was writing so I could sing and perform them. I still have all of my notebooks with all of the songs that I wrote!

During quarantine, I wanted to read a new series to help fill my time. I decided I wanted to read the whole Harry Potter book series and had so much fun doing so. The imagery and description in all the Harry Potter books kept me engaged and wanting to read more. My favorite book was The Chamber of Secrets.

Freshman year I went to an arts program in New Haven called Educational Center for the Arts and I studied theater. It was a theater intensive and we were constantly analyzing, breaking apart and interpreting scripts. When analyzing the scripts we would have to write essays and explain our thought process when we were reading the script with others and/or by myself.

Last year I bought my first rom-com book. The book was Better Than the Movies and it was such a cute story. I always loved romantic comedy movies and thought I should try a book. I have since read many other books similar to that one and enjoy reading them because I can almost make a movie in my head and imagination while reading.

I recently started to practice reading music and understanding scores. I like to challenge myself with pieces of music that have difficult tempos or keys. With music from musical theater and different shows, I am able to read "between the lines" and try to figure out the meaning and tone behind the lyrics.
