I was in Kindergarden when our teacher told each student in the class to pick out a book from the books closet. I picked out a fiction book which I remember was about fish in the ocean competing for an item in the ocean. I still remember that book closet we would get a new book from every few weeks or days.

I remember I was home with my siblings, and my sister had got an ipad for her birthday. It had a pen, and a holding ipad which you could only use to write in through the pen it had with it. I remember it was one of my favorite things because I would draw in it and write letters. Thats one of the reasons how I learned to write in English, because it helped me build sentences and use new words.

I remember I was in my second grade class with my favorite teacher ever, Mrs. Car, we had a unit dedicated for books I think because once in the school year, there was a time when we were only reading books for the most of the day. Memories like this remind me when I started reading and why, and it stays with me because I still read to this day for fun, and that memory reminds me why I started.

I remember a few years ago, like 6 or 7, when I was using magnet letters on the refrigerator. Thats the day I started teaching letters and sentences to my siblings. Instead of learning letters anymore, I started to teach others like my siblings, helping them and myself by being involved in teaching letters to others and showing them processes of writing, like building sentences.

Last year in my English class, since our teacher gave us a new different book occasionally, I remember we got the book called "Julius Caesar". I enjoyed this book so much, even though we had a quiz on it after every section we read. The book was so fascinating especially because it was written by William Shakespeare, the author of the book Romeo and Juliet, which was a book I read in ninth grade.

In my English II H class, we would get a new book every once often, and I was always excited to read what the book would be about. I always found the books in class interesting, especially the book called The Great Gatsby which we read at the end of the year. I loved it so much I reread it again over this summer with my AP Lang Summer Assignment book, and even watched the books movie.

This Summer 2025, my gaol was to read at least 10 books. These books were also about 200-300 pages long as well. I put this challenge up for myself because I wanted to expand my vocabulary and help improve my reading skills. I only got to read 3, and this was mostly because through the summer I was doing a research internship that was from Monday-Friday from 9-5. I enjoyed reading all three books, and I continue to carry a book with me so I can read it every time I have free time.

Starting September first, I picked out a new book (1984 by George Orwell) for myself from the West Haven Public Library to read, and continue my reading journey. I picked this book out mainly so I can read in my free time, but also to have a book with me for my AP Lang class when we have long block because we have a 25 minute reading time.
