In our town we can successfully integrate about fifteen to twenty refugees. This number is small enough for our community to support, but big enough to make a real difference in their lives. With good planning and cooperation, we can provide them with the safety and stability they need. -
The refugees can stay in some empty apartments that the town does not use anymore but also in Xenias, an empty old hotel that can be refurbised. These places can be fixed and cleaned so that each family has a comfortable home. Until everything is ready, they can stay in local guesthouses or temporary housing. It is important that they live in a safe and friendly environment. -
In our town, refugees can develop simple forms of entrepreneurship. For example, they can open small shops, help in farming, or start a food stand with traditional dishes from their country. They can also offer services like sewing, repairing clothes, or gardening. These jobs can help them earn money and become part of the local economy. -
Our school can help the refugees in many ways. We can offer language lessons so the children and adults can learn Greek or English. Students can donate books, clothes, and school supplies. The school can also organize cultural days or buddy programs, where local students help refugee students feel welcome and make new friends. -
Helping refugees can bring many benefits to our community. New people bring new ideas, food, and traditions, which make our town more interesting and open-minded. Their businesses can create new jobs and support the local economy. Most of all, by helping others, we become a kinder and stronger community.
