Thomas Jefferson Becomes President
A more economy-focused president, Thomas Jefferson made many changed to early America. Reduced debt owed to other countries by a third, established the Marine Corps, and supported growth and expansion westward. -
Louisiana Purchase
Under the presidency of Thomas Jefferson, 828,000 square miles of land is purchased from France, doubling the size of America and allowed for farther expansion. Also raised controversy on whether or not the president was allowed to personally make this kind of purchase. -
James Madison Becomes President
Known as the "Father of the Constitution" because of all of his work on it and the Bill of Rights. He helped to frame the rights of the people and define the government's purpose. -
