    Kindergarten- Second grade computer use

I can recall using computers in computer labs starting in Kindergarten. I attended a private Christian school at this time, so the time on computers was spent watching Veggie Tales or engaging in games that spoke about the Bible. I attended this private school until second grade, so until then, this is how I recall spending time in computer labs.

When I switched to a public school in third grade, I recall using Dance Mat Typing to learn how to type. I enjoyed using this website because of the animals and songs in the program.

    Accelerated Reading

In about the third or fourth grade, I remember beginning AR tests. We would go to the computer lab, which is where I would take the tests on the books I read.

    The use of Elmo's

At my new public school, each classroom had an Elmo projector on which the teacher would display worksheets. I always thought these were so cool, and sometimes the teachers would let students display their work using the Elmo!

    Chromebooks

In middle school, I switched school districts and started using Chromebooks in the classroom. Each student would be assigned a number for a specific computer. We would write essays or research topics. I enjoyed being able to customize my profile since the login was connected with my school email account.
  • Google Classroom

    Google Classroom

In middle school and in high school, teachers used Google Classroom to post Google Docs or slots to turn in digital assignments.
  • Zoom classes

    Zoom classes

During the pandemic, my school, along with every other school, began using Zoom. This was a completely new website for me and teachers, so we were all figuring it out together. After a couple of weeks, I began getting the hang of it and how to use some of the features. My senior year (2020-2021) was completely on Zoom, so I have had lots of practice with it!
