Henry Perry had a successful outcome in a Galveston bay invasion and obtained the mouth of Trinity River . They sat headquarters under the authority of the Mexican rebel agent (Manuel de Herrera). Their intent was on turning the Mexican Independence to their own advantage. They created expeditions with the goal of separating Texas from Mexico . (126) (125).

(126) A challenge arose in 1818 when a group of Napoleonic exiles attempted to establish a French outpost on the Trinity River. They built a fort which they called "Champ d'Aisle". Champ d ' Aisle also played a part in the Adams Onis treaty !

Adams Onis Treaty was in 1819 and recognized the Spanish title to Texas . James Long launched the first expedition to liberate Texas from the United States. The Adams Ones treaty was an agreement of peace between Spain and the U.S about Florida for the U.S. it also defined the western limits of the Louisiana Purchase.
