Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth and died the next day. -
Booth was found in a barn in Virginia. The Union Soldiers set the barn on fire to get him to come out, and shot him as he did. -
Four hours after the attack started the battle was over. Lopez tried to defeat Brazil through the river because he knew the Brazilian ships would have a harder time maneuvering through it. After Brazil won the battle, they closed off the rivers to Paraguay. Paraguay was stuck on land. This battle began the War of the Triple Alliance. -
The War was between Paraguay and the Triple Alliance (Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina). Francisco Solano Lopez tried to pair with Argentina against Brazil so that Brazil couldn't overpower smaller countries, but they refused.
