    Ray Tomlinson invents networked email on ARPANET, using "@" to separate user and host. "QWERTYUIOP" was the first string of email sent during this time.
  • The First Emoticon was Invented

    The first smiley emoticon 🙂 was introduced. This showed more emotion in the emails people sent.
  • The First Email Program Launched

    The first commercial email client launches. It was called Eudora. This is when email started to become more “user-friendly.”
  • An Email was Sent From Space

    The first email was sent from space. It stated “Hello Earth! Greetings from the STS-43 Crew. This is the first AppleLink from space. Having a GREAT time, wish you were here,... send cryo and RCS! Hasta la vista, baby,...we'll be back!"
